Replacing trunk light of Ioniq 5

I was surprised to find that the light in the trunk of our 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5 was not an LED light, which means it will use up a lot of the small 12V battery when in use.

I bought a 6 pack of DE3175 LED ($7) lights from Amazon and the steps below show how I installed one in our car.

Here is the old yellowing incandescent light.

What I bought:

I used a small blade to lift the front edge of the light cover.

The assembly slides out easily.

I used a small screwdriver to release the clips holding the power supply cable:

The assembly was then free and obviously no longer powered.

I uncliped the cover from the assembly with the screwdriver:

I popped out the old light and inserted a new LED one in its place.

Since the polarity matters, and the polarity of my LED light was not marked, I tested that the polarity was fine before reattaching the cover.

Then clipped the cover back on and inserted the power cable all the way.:

The last step was to simply push the assembly back into place.
